SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PHASE - 1
AROMAL DEVAN
SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PREPARATORY WEEK
PREPARATORY WEEK
As part of the initial step toward our Phase 1 School Internship, we visited our allotted school on July 25, 2025, to collect the syllabus portions. I was assigned to Govt. HSS Thevarvattom, along with two other teacher trainees from the English and Natural Science departments. We reached the school by 9:15 a.m., and once all our fellow trainees had arrived, we entered the school premises together at 9:30 a.m.
I was entrusted with the role of team leader, and Jisha George from the English department served as the assistant leader. In the absence of the Headmaster, we submitted our request letter to the teacher in charge, who provided us with essential instructions. Following this, we met our respective subject teachers to collect the allotted portions. Each teacher was cooperative and kind, helping us by distributing the required syllabus portions. We also received our individual timetables and noted the contact numbers of the concerned teachers.
Our first impression of Thevarvattom School was deeply memorable, especially as the surroundings came alive in a beautiful shower of rain.
From July 28 to August 1, we attended our Preparatory Week sessions at the college. This period was filled with a variety of activities that aimed to ensure the smooth execution of our teaching practice. Our Principal, Bibby Miss, conducted an orientation session that provided valuable guidance.
On July 28, our optional subject teacher helped us divide the syllabus portions among ourselves. On the same day, I submitted a draft lesson plan, which Anitha Miss reviewed thoroughly and offered insightful suggestions for improvement.
On July 29, I submitted another rough lesson plan and received detailed feedback from my optional teacher. Taking her advice into account, I began working on the next lesson.
On July 30, I submitted yet another lesson plan, which showed noticeable improvement compared to my earlier submissions.
By July 31, I submitted one more draft lesson plan. Based on my teacher’s feedback, she advised me to proceed with preparing fair copies instead of rough drafts from then on.
On August 1, the final day of our preparatory week, I submitted the fair copies of the lesson plans into my teaching record. Anitha Miss reviewed and signed them, indicating her approval.
Overall, the Preparatory Week provided us with an excellent opportunity to correct our errors and learn from them. That one week played a crucial role in shaping us into more confident teacher trainees. I now eagerly await the milestone moment of beginning our teaching practice.
